Originally seen with Yurika in the art club, Matsuoka's secret dream is to start a rock band to help support his family. He recruits Sentarō to be part of his band for the cultural festival and, after he debates internally and listens to a record of the Beatles (lent by Matsuoka), Sentarō agrees, which provokes an argument between him and Kaoru. Later, at the cultural festival, Matsuoka and his band begins a successful concert, but there is suddenly an electronic failure, disabling their electric guitars. To prevent the audience from leaving, Sentarō and Kaoru perform a live jam session, which begins to repair their relationship. Upon seeing this, Matsuoka remarks that he has learned much and that he promises to now expand his dreams beyond what he originally had.
