My NEW CAMERA test!

My NEW CAMERA test!
06 Feb 2011 22:52:01

Hello all! As you can see, I'm doing it slowly, one step at a time, but, yea, I'm recovering as an active Shelf user!

I bought my NEW CAMERA in the first days of New Year after a months of consideration, hesitation and some hardcore photo-forums browsing.

I didn't want posh and pricey DSLR camera, but I also didn't want a cheap soap-box one. I needed something in the middle, something good enough to make decent macro even in poor light environment.

My primary candidates were Canon G11 and Samsung EX-1. I already decided to get Canon, cause my good friend, who is very good in photography had it and recommended it to me.

But then after more forum-browsing and review-reading I decided in favor of SAMSUNG EX-1. It is much cheaper then overpriced Canon and delivers good macro, and - the best thing, all reviews mentioned it - can make decent photos in almost any light. This option is just priceless for me, living is yellow light-bulb lights

So here is my uber BF, Greggery, shooting the mirror, demonstrating my new awesome camera. All photos in this post are test figure-photos he made with EX-1.

Let's proceed to figures. Bad light was my biggest concern so I asked Greggery to shoot a couple of my figures on display in my room at the evening with lamps switched on (very bad light, my previous camera made shots like that all soapy and blurred).

It is exactly how they stand now, on my old piano upper deck, surrounded by books.

Not perfect, but not bad also. Anyway, much better then my previous point-and-shoot garbage. My Russian readers can mention the sigh with my full name on the backgroung. This is a name-plate made for me on my first workplace. When they finally made it, I was already about to quit, so instead of gluing it to the door, I too the nameplate with me, as a souvenir

Let's get some angle:

Even better. All it takes - an "auto-levels" and/or "auto-color" option in PS.

Waist pic.

Yay, Cocona! Details are great! And a close-up:

Let's switch to Saber-chan!
Face close-up.

To see how good and sharp this photo is you'll need to open it in full resolution. After this photo I was totally convinced that I made the right choice with Samsung EX-1!

Totally different angle:

I don't know why, but I like this photo very much. It's like my camera passed an anti-blur acid test! Great!

That's all for now, and do look forward for my next photo-posts made with my Samsung EX-1

p.s - all photos were made in auto-mode, meaning point-and-shoot. I didn't yet discover the full potential of that camera!
