Sad news - Animaxis.com shop unexpectingly closed
30 Jan 2011 18:50:04

Today I received a rather unexpected mail. It was from Animaxis.com, an on-line shop of manga, figures and various anime stuff. The letter said as follows:

Dear customer,

As always, thank you very much for using Animaxis.com.

Recently we are very sorry to inform you that we have to shut down our
website and company for various reasons on the end of this January.

We appreciate your business for long time very much.

We will dispose of personal information responsibly.

Thank you very very very much.

Best wishes for your continued good health, happiness, and success.

Sincerely yours,

As soon as I received the letter I rushed to the http://www.animaxis.com/

Even their English Twitter account is not there anymore

This is so sad! The "best wishes" line from the letter nearly made me cry.

It is rather personal thing to me, because Animaxis was my very first online shop of anime stuff.

I've got my first volume of manga from them as well as my first figure (Cocona by Movic) and first figma too (Yuki Nagato).

Even when I made HLJ, HobbySearch and AmiAmi my primary sources of figure supplies, I visited Animaxis.com frequently.

It was a great shop for rare and cool anime stuff that was hard to find elsewhere, like anime spoons, cups and mugs, bento boxes, chopsticks, stationery and lots of other funny and useful things. For instance all items featured in my non-figure merchandise post was acquired through Animaxis.com.

Every year I bought an anime calendar there. Nearly all my manga is from Animaxis.

I tried to find some details about the situation, but other English-language customers of Animaxis know nothing, same as me. I'm really sad about this.

So long, Animaxis!

UPDATE: some folk on ANN forum thread says that their Japanese twitter is working and posts are coming (http://twitter.com/#!/animaxis_ja). I don't know what to think now!

nobody knows. They had absolutely no announcement of closure on their site. They just closed one day, that's all.
I'm too old for this shit, ain't I?
