Beach Queens (aka Potomac Coast Party)

Beach Queens (aka Potomac Coast Party)

Today, another figure came in the mail today, and with that, not only do I have a new place to order online when it comes to anime figurines, but also I have a new plan when it comes to where to put my anime figurines.

To begin, last week, I went on Hobby Search and ordered the Beach Queens version of Mylene from Macross 7. I was hoping to find this figure at the Dealers' Room at this year's Otakon, but I was unsuccessful in finding her. As for the place of ordering, I chose Hobby Search for two reasons. The first involves the fact that unlike Hobby Link Japan (my usual place to order anime figurines online), Hobby Search offers at least 15% off their figurines be it a pre-order or one that's been around for months (whereas Hobby Link Japan only offers 5% off on early bird pre-orders). Second, I ordered it from Hobby Search because I've pre-ordered a figurine from there, and I wanted to get an idea of how they handle the shipping of merchandise before the other figurine arrives in the mail later in the year. Well, once the Oban holiday ended in Japan (as most Japan-based online stores took some time off for the holiday), the figure was shipped out, and I received it in the mail today, thus making me deciding to possibly to my pre-orders from Hobby Search than Hobby Link Japan (although I'd still check the other site for sales and in case Hobby Search stops taking reservations on some of the hotter figurines).

Anyways, with Mylene arriving in the mail today, I decided that it was time to move around the figurines in my Detolf cabinet again. The reasoning for this is due to the fact that with Mylene, I have five Beach Queens figurines in my collection already (with two more on the way later in the month in the form of Konata and Kagami). Given how these figurines would end up taking up up to two-thirds of shelf space if I left them in the Detolf cabinet, I decided that it was time to move the figurines of the Beach Queens line to a new place, one that has more space for them (with plenty of room in case I get more in the future) Their new display area is on top of a bookshelf in a room that will most likely be used as a guest room once the bed gets cleared off (the same room with the beach-like bedsheets that I used in the pictures of the Azumanga figurines).

With that move, I can now await the pre-ordered figurines (and any other figurine that I pick up before the year is over) without the concern of finding room for them.

I like how those beach queen are all the same scale and have bases that easily fit together. It looks like konata and kagami will fit nicely right in front.
