Rounding Out 2012 with Sasara ans Maaryann

Rounding Out 2012 with Sasara ans Maaryann
23 Dec 2012 04:25:08

To start things off, I might as well explain why I haven't done an Anime USA report here after over a month passed since the con. The reason for it is like this: I actually did have plans to do one here. However, when I was going to take a photo of the only real figure purchase that I got at that con, I noticed that something was odd about the figure (especially given the shabby packaging), so I went online to research it. It turns out that the figure that I picked up was actually a counterfeit one. Adding the fact that the two week period after the con was going to be busy (what with me being focused on the season premiere of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, my birthday, and Black Friday), I eventually decided to just focus on my main report on Fandom Post and post the cosplay pics on Facebook. You can read the report (and let a link to the cosplay pics) at the following site:

Anime USA 2012 Report

Hopefully, I'll be able to do a report when I go to Katsucon in February, and while I'm most likely not going to Anime USA next year due to a few issues that I have with the convention date, I do plan to make up for that, especially with some My Little Pony cons beginning to show up in the Washington D.C. area (including the big one, Bronycon, taking place in Baltimore the weekend before Otakon).

With the Anime USA issue out of the way, let's get back to the real reason why I'm writing this blog post. On Friday, my final figure order of 2012 arrived at my home. Once again, I'm continuing with my collection of figures based on To Heart 2: Dungeon Travelers (although in this case, the figure is from Aquapazza, a fighting game featuring various characters from titles published by Aqua). This time it is in the form of a Nendoroid set that comes with two pieces. The main piece of the set (and the piece that is related to Dungeon Travelers) is a Nendoroid figure of Sasara, this time with her in her Valkyrie attire.

The second piece (which is to represent an assist character) is a Nendoroid Petit figure of Maaryann in her regular school attire.

For fun (and also to show the size of Maaryann when compared to the regular figures that I buy), I also took of picture of the Nendoroid Petit version of Maaryann with the Dungeon Travelers figure of her that I have. BTW, I did consider doing the same thing with Sasara, but I decided too pass on it given the task of making the Nendoroid figure stand on its own).

When it came time for me to prepare Sasara for her main pose, it turned out to be rather hectic. The problem involves the fact that the pieces keep falling off when I try to put one piece on her (in fact, I was originally planning to have her hold a shield in the picture, but I pretty much gave up on that idea when it became too hard to keep everything in place). Eventually, I finally got the wings (which was among the trickiest parts to keep on) to stay put, and, using a special base that came with the figure, I was finally able to get her in the pose that's going to be her main pose in my figurine cabinet.

As an added touch, here's both Sasara and Maaryann together.

With that, my 2012 figure collecting season has come to a close. Hopefully, there will be a lot of interesting figures coming out in 2012 (I've already have a couple pre-orderd), as well as me purchasing some at the various conventions that I'll be attending next year.
