For me, 2011 in the field of anime figure collecting began with a local trip to the House of Pop Culture, where I saw a Catwoman statue that was tempting, but cost around $65. After mentioning this to my mother, she suggested checking online to see what the prices for that statue are on various online merchants. While checking Amazon for this figure, a thought hit me: why don't you check Amazon for the Eika Sky Girls figure to complete my collection of Eye Scream statues of the three main girls in Sky Girls (I picked up an alternate color version of Karen in October of 2008, and I got a regular Otoha from one of Hobbylink Japan's sales in December 2008)?
Hence, while checking Amazon for an Eika statue, I noticed that one dealer had some of the alternate color statues of her for sale. Given how I still had $45 in Amazon credit left over from the $75 credit that one of my older brothers gave me for my birthday (I used $30 to buy Apocalypse Now on Blu-Ray during a Thanksgiving sale), I decided to buy that figure with me only needing to pay $20. On Monday afternoon, the figure arrived while I was at work.
With Eika added to my collection, I made sure to rearrange my Detolf cabinet so that way she'll be on the same shelf as the other two Sky Girls (luckily, it didn't need much rearranging, which is good, as I'm trying to save some space for a figure that's coming in March).
With that, Eika is just the start to what will hopefully be a another busy year in collecting anime items (as I have a few preorders and an HLJ order to come in the mail in the next few months, not to mention my annual trips to Katsucon, Otakon, and Anime USA).
