.....Captain Harlock to rule them all!!!!

**WARNING: Lots of Pics!!!**

Hello Fellow Shelfers!!!

So, after a while of searching and just being on the fence on whether or not to pull the trigger on the regular Captain Harlock from Hot Toys (Standard Edition Captain Harlock) or the one with the Throne of Acadia (Extra Super Special Edition Captain Harlock with Throne of Acadia :D)...I finally, not only made my decision, but scored a pretty good deal (in my opinion)! :D

I really wanted the throne version, but they really love that throne as it was going for as much as $400 USD and up in some instances, and was pretty hard to find one at the $350 range (but they do exist). The normal version I'd seen go for around $150 but usually he was much closer to $200....so I'd pretty much decided I'd just go for the normal version, but would try to be patient as I figured if I just waited it out I could likely get him for $150 or less after shipping.

That's when I discovered Jungle Entertainment Hobby shop, a webshop that sells out of Japan. That's where I found a sealed version of him for $178 USD, WITH the Throne of Acadia. I was ecstatic, so immediately pulled the trigger (admittedly with little to no additional thought put into it...lol, so unlike me....NOT). Well long story short, yes that's a GREAT deal, however after I add the credit card fees that Jungle shop adds plus the EMS shipping fees for a rather large figure and box (I think the weight and dimensions BEFORE it's placed in it's actual shipping box were something like - 470mm x 290mm x 205mm / 3550g), which made for a hefty shipping charge. In the end my amazing deal of $178 USD actually ended somewhere in the $265 range....not quite the knock-you-out-of-your-panties-deal I initially thought I was getting (which let's admit I thought ZERO about shipping fees or anything else when I pulled that trigger, excitement completely overcame me)...BUT, it really is still a pretty damn good deal for a sealed Harlock with the throne, so in the end I'm still very much ok with it.

The shipping was ridiculous fast. I paid for the figure on April 6th, they shipped it out on the 7th (from Osaka Japan) and I received it in Louisiana, USA today at noon (the 11th). That blows my mind....so thank you Jungle...you speed demons you!!!

Now...to be clear this is not a review. I spent zero time testing him out or looking for flaws in this figure or trying to capture and detail all the various accessories he came with. These ultra-crappy indoor photos, then semi-decent outdoor photos were all just me oogling over my new loot....and so I decided to share my excitement with all of you! So, without further delay, here are the pics!!!

Now finally, some outdoor photos where the lighting was WAYYYYY better, so you can actually see some of his awesome detail:

So I realize this is NOT a new figure, but...he's new to me, so good enough!!!! In a nutshell....I LOVE this figure. It is so amazing, has so much detail and they did such a great job on the sculpt. So glad I found this guy and now finally have him in my collection and ruling over my shelves!!

Hope you saw something you enjoyed!!! Later fellow collectors, and thanks for checking out my blog!!!

Wow! With all my hatred for the last film (I'm fan of the original 80-s series) and the image of this Harlock, which actually contradicts the classic image of Harlock from the series and manga - I have to admit that this figure is made superb! It looks very natural and just super-duper epic! Congrats!
Ah, if only someone had made a similar figure in the classical style, I would have bought without thinking...

Haha...well I will consider myself lucky to have not yet seen the original anime, only the movie, which enabled me to enjoy the movie! The movie admittedly wasn't amazing or anything, but I loved the idea of this character and thought he looked amazing (and I also could just watch the movie over and over because the CG is actually really stunning to me). I will also add that after getting this figure in, I was blown away by the quality and just the level of detail. I have never owned a Hot Toy figure before, so wasn't sure what to expect, but he is stunning.....soooo glad to have him in my collection!

You know, I prefer to think about the film as a fanfic based on the original, there is too much difference in everything. And if you look at it, without conducting any associations with the original Harlock, then everything is ok. That's why I prefer to regard it that way, and yes, there is an awesome CG and a stunningly beautiful version of Miime, which I really love! For this I forgive a lot, LOL

Yes, Hot Toys is a great company (mostly), and I have to rejoice that they have not made any of my favorite characters yet, otherwise I would have gone bankrupt, LOL!

LOL, that makes complete sense and I can totally understand that. I also agree that there are not tons of Hot Toys figures out of chars I love....as I fear I too would be broke, especially now after seeing how detailed they are!!

Absolutely agree! So we will pray that if they will do our fav char figures - than do it not so often, for example, 1 time in a year... Maybe 2, it's enough, LOL!!!

How I understand you! =D It's a pain in the ass, being a collector of something, but hellish hell - when you collect in different areas... For example, several kinds of figures... Personally, I still collect books and gemstones (balls, crystals, etc). Eh, it's hard to be a passionate person, LOL!!!

It's really great that he looks alive. Especially if you make the light a little darker and the ambient becomes gothic and mysterious.

LOL, yeah, just before I started taking some shots of him outside in the brighter light, I did one of him on this throne inside (it's in the above as well), and he does indeed look pretty realistic there!!! LOL....I love your Young Frankenstein image by the way, LOL....such a hilarious movie! :D
