New Preorders (AKA; How to pillage wallets)

New Preorders (AKA; How to pillage wallets)
16 Aug 2010 00:35:49

'Sup, Shelfers. I figured I'd round up some of the current and upcoming preorders, because there are honestly a lot of really cool ones coming out. Let me tell you, 2010 is a great year for figures.

First off, we have a new Figma - Aigis's "sister" Metis, from Persona 3 FES. Why they chose to do Metis is beyond me, given that there are so many wonderful characters in the game who need Figmas.

These are some Shizuo-tier stop-sign-wielding skills.

They're also including her joke weapon, the stop sign, as well as a smiling face. But the real gem among the accessories would be...

KOROMARU-SAN! *insert obnoxious squeal*

That's right, the main accessory for Metis is Koromaru the dog. Now if they just release a Junpei, I'll be able to recreate my party from the game in glorious Figma form.

This isn't a Figma Metis with a Koromaru accessory - it's a Figma Koromaru with a Metis accessory.

I'm really torn about Figma Metis, because I really don't like Metis at all, but on the other hand, Koromaru... Maybe I'll just find someone who doesn't want Koromaru and buy him off of them. Anyway, preorders for Metis open on Thursday the 19th, along with preorders for a rerelease of Aigis. Both Metis and the Aigis rerelease come out in November.

Another one bites the dust...

However, one of the most brutal months this year for the wallets of collectors everywhere would be October. In addition to six Figmas, Medicos is releasing an SAS of Yoshikage Kira, the main villain of Part IV of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. His accessories include an alternate head with his slicked-back hairstyle from later in the arc, a paper bag containing a "girlfriend," and a Sheer Heart Attack piece for Killer Queen. But the October releases continue...

October's gonna take your money just like that.

From Kaiyodo comes the Revoltech of Lupin III. While the figure itself isn't the most amazing-looking Revoltech (partly due to how hard it is to represent Monkey Punch's art style in 3D with joints intact), there are some wonderful accessories.

Fun fact: Amiami has the images for this figure placed under the "MOE" category.

So many parts! And I must say, turning that dinky orange container into a safe is absolutely genius. Lupin comes out in October, and apparently, Daisuke Jigen is due out in January. Amiami doesn't have him listed yet due to Obon, but have a picture anyway.

404 Girl!?

Has your ability to enjoy everything been hampered by the inability to find Revoltech Yotsuba? Fear not, because she's getting a reissue in October! For only about 1500 yen on Amiami, I really do recommend this figure - I mean, it's Yotsuba, the only character so sweet and innocent that even 4chan is fiercely protective of her innocence.

It's like WALL-E's depressed little brother or something.

Being rereleased alongside Yotsuba would be Danboard, the mysterious cardboard "robot!" What Danboard lacks in complexity, it makes up for in sheer cuteness (and it has light-up eyes).

EVA-guro pieces not included.

Okay, so maybe Yotsuba is too cute for you. How about some EVAs? This box set includes not only the mass-released Units 01 and 02, but also the once-exclusive Units 00 and 03! Once again, another October release.

So is anyone going to add anything here to their October orders? I've already added Danboard to my order (now my Yotsuba will have a buddy), and I'm pondering whether or not to add Metis. What do you think of this week's preorders?

I was very close to ordering that Yotsuba when I saw it, but I'm going to bid my time for a special edition (summer reissue, or hopefully something new).

I'm honestly surprised that they didn't just reissue the summer version straight away, rather than reissuing the normal one. As much as I love my normal Yotsuba, the summer one does seem like a nicer package.

I dunno, it may be longer and wider than a normal Revoltech box, but it's only a quarter of the thickness of the four boxes bought separately. Amiami is fond of using stupid-huge boxes, anyway...

I'll definitely be picking up Metis and Aigis. Debating with myself on the EVAs. It'll depend on if I can find room in the budget for them. >.>;;
