Figure News: J-JUST PLACE AN ORDER, YOU DOUBLE FIGMA!
08 Apr 2011 00:00:58

Today, not one but two Figmas went up for preorder. The first was one I've been secretly hoping for ever since Figma Reimu was announced way back in summer 2009. That's right, the Little Pandemonium, Suika Ibuki, has joined the Figma line!

What do ya do with a drunken oni, what do ya do with a drunken oni...

Originally created as a final boss for the Touhou Project fighting game Immaterial and Missing Power, Suika was a character clearly built for combat (being an oni and all). This is reflected in how Max Factory sculpted the figure, with very dynamic hair and clothing, along with both static and free-flowing chains with which you can recreate her moves from the game.

Shoryuken!

Of course, the one thing that defines Suika is her love for sake - she hasn't been seen sober in over 700 years! This penchant for drunkenness is reflected with some of her accessories - her magic gourd that never runs out of sake is included, as well as a sake dish and two faces (drunk and utterly wasted).

"I shwear, I'm fine." *hic*

As a Tuhou character, Suika also possesses a rather unusual power - the ability to manipulate density. In-game, she can use this to make herself grow massive or throw miniature versions of herself as projectiles. And in a final and unexpected move, Max Factory included a mini-Suika for all your oni-tossing needs!

"Go, Shuika. Go out and zap to da somethingsomething..."

In addition to the exclusive Suika, Max Factory opened preorders without warning for another Figma.

For some strange reason, Yomi Takanashi of the Black*Rock Shooter OVA is a standard release while her buddy Mato Kuroi is an exclusive. As far as accessories go, they're pretty much identical - the only real difference is that Yomi has a volleyball instead of a basketball. Honestly, this release strikes me as disappointing - Max Factory have made leaps and bounds over the last year with regards to making really cool Figmas, so seeing them fall back to generic schoolgirls is just... yeah. Anyway, Yomi's due out in July, while Suika's set for an August release. Do you plan on preordering either of these two? Sound off below!
