Figure News SPECIAL: Regarding the Sendai Earthquake
16 Mar 2011 11:19:50

Alright, the situation over in Japan is looking pretty bleak right now. The death toll continues to shoot up (current estimates are that it'll reach 10,000 before this is over). So most Japanese companies have higher priorities right now than releasing new figures. So how will this affect the news, you may ask? Well, articles will be coming in at a more erratic rate for a while - as developments occur rather than on a consistent schedule. Speaking of which, Good Smile Company recently made the following statement:

"We would once again like to offer our condolences to all who have been affected by this unfortunate disaster. Good Smile Company and Max Factory will be donating 10 million yen (about 124,000USD or 3,563,000RUB) to the cause of helping out all those who are in need of salvation, as well as helping to recover the infrastructure of badly damaged areas. We also intend to release some charity products which will be sold to raise more money to be donated to relief efforts.
We truly hope that everyone involved will be able to recover from this unfortunate disaster as quickly as possible in the days to come."

Makoto Watanabe, Max Factory President
Aki Takanori, Good Smile Company President

An announcement regarding these charity products (Figma Disaster Relief Miku? Rubble Clearer Dropcloth?) will be made in the days to come. At any rate, my heart goes out to all those affected by the Sendai tragedy, and I hope you understand the erraticness of the next few weeks' updates.

Yeah man, I can understand you well. I failed to record the lottery video last weekend, cause I felt so bad. Spent nearly the whole Saturday and Sunday watching Japanese earthquake related on-line translations. "Why?"... That's all I can say.
The rain beats hard at my window
While you so softly do sleep...

It's nice to here that GS/MF have donated money towards the effort.
