Figure News: Interesting 3A Rumors
08 Feb 2011 02:12:05

Alright, Wonder Festival has come and gone. The Mikus were appended, the Stockings were stocked, and ROBOCOP GOT A FIGMA. Anyway, we're in that lull that comes after big announcements - this week is probably going to be pretty slow figure-news-wise.

Regardless, some rumors have begun surfacing about new 3A products, ones that will interest both fans of the comapny and fans of certain licenses.

Remember that 3A/Bandai collaboration that was announced? Well, if the rumors are true, it's going to be very cool indeed. Apparently, it's going to be a 14-inch Zaku II, rendered in 3A's own distinct style. This is the first time 3A is working with licenses - until now, they've been making original creations, so it'll be interesting to see their take on a franchise as iconic as Mobile Suit Gundam.

Their second license is none other than... Metal Gear!? That's right, 3A is also producing a figure of the Metal Gear REX from Konami's Metal Gear Solid series. This thing is going to be a monster, though - over a foot tall and composed of many parts (the lower leg alone contains four separately-jointed parts), with electronics of some sort thrown in. But with a monstrously awesome figure comes a monstrous price tag - current estimates are between $300 and $500.

Anyway, I'll be sure to keep you guys updated as these rumors are confirmed true or false. Is anyone else interested to see how 3A handles licenses other than their own? Sound off below!

Actually ThreeA also has the licenses to Spawn and 2000 AD witch they have already released a figure from. One thing to remember about the 3A's Metal Gear Solid stuff is that Ashley Wood was the artist behind the comic adaptations of the games and his art was featured in some of the games as well.

A 3A Zaku II? That should be interesting as it's my favorite Gundam design.

Just found some more rumors about the Metal Gear.

"There will be a mini Snake figure (Shinkawa style).
It will be the most complex toy 3A has ever done, and one of the most complex toys ever.
The lower leg alone has around 30 parts.
It's so huge and detailed Ash is thinking that this is part toy and part furniture: a new genre!
Lights up.
ETA summer 2011.
Oh there will be colorways... desert, snow, regular... start saving!"
