Figure News: New Sci-Fi Revoltech preorders open
01 Dec 2010 22:49:08

Over the last 48 hours, the two newest Sci-Fi Revoltech releases have opened for preorder on various sites. Now that they've reached all the major stores, I'll showcase them here! First up is one who's been anticipated since February's WF. It's...

Sci-Fi Revoltech Predator (from Predator)

"At least my mommy says I'm beautiful..."

When Kaiyodo first unveiled the various Alien Revoltechs, many people wondered if a Revoltech Predator would follow. Despite the general mediocrity of the crossover movies, the Alien and Predator mythos meld so well together that it seemed inevitable. And Kaiyodo followed up on this wish, resulting in this Revoltech! Now, the proportions do look a little awkward, but this can be explained. With the Sci-Fi Revoltech line, Kaiyodo is specifically honoring the special effects behind these iconic characters, so the figures are designed to be as accurate to the original costumes/models/etc. as possible. The Predator costume in the original movie had the same slightly large head, simply due to the need to fit a human head inside there. While this figure does look a bit strange, it's extremely accurate. It also includes accessories to recreate pretty much any scene from the original movie, including the Predator's mask, multiple hands, and the suicide device on its wrist can open to reveal the controls within. Revoltech Predator will be able to rip out your other figures's spinal cords in February.

Sci-Fi Revoltech Gigan (from Godzilla vs. Gigan)

Oh yeah. That visor is sooooo '80s.

Joining the many Revoltechs of Toho kaiju is everyone's favorite cyborg chicken-dragon, Gigan! All of his spiny points and details, from his fins to his buzzsaw-belly, have been accurately reproduced in this figure. And like the previous Toho Revoltechs, Gigan includes a piece of in-scale scenery - a power plant for him to terrorize! While these Revoltechs are a dream come true for tokusatsu fans, you can't help but wonder where Godzilla himself is. I assume that Toho's pretty protective of their most iconic character, so he must be in licensing hell. Anyway, both Predator and Gigan ship out on February 1st!
