Figure News: First two Kamen Rider OOO OCC releases now shipping

You got the medals one two and three, life goes on, anything goes, coming up OOOs!

...Sorry, but I'm going to have to begin any Kamen Rider OOO-related post with that. That opening is just so addictive...

With that out of my system, I present to you word on two of Bandai's newest releases. To go alongside the airing of Kamen Rider OOO, Bandai is releasing the OOO Change Combination series of figures. These figures are in scale with S.H. Figuarts, and are cheaper, but lack a few details such as the die-cast feet and sculpted compound eyes. However, they have a feature that more than makes up for these shortcomings - you can take them apart and mix-and-match parts! The Figuarts can't do this, instead using exclusives to portray the various combos that have been featured in the show (four as of episode 5). The OCC figures are being released as the base forms, and you can parts-swap to make the other forms - the second figure in the series ships today, the GataKiriBa Combo!

Kuwagata! Kamikiri! Batta!

The OCC figures also feature a fair few gimmicks that the Figuarts won't have, such as the extending hoppers on the Batta legs.

You can also flip out the blades on the Kamikiri arms.

To go with this release, there's also a reissue of the Tacobar TaToBa Combo due later this month. From here on out, it seems they're gonna release new combos each month, with the RaToraTah Combo in November followed by SaGoZa in December.

Frankly, I'm really, really excited about this line. The show was a pleasant surprise - what I initially thought was a silly premise turned out to be one of my favorite Rider shows in years, and this toyline just looks like so much fun. It sometimes seems like people get so focused on massive amounts of detail and posability that they forget that there's always room for toys made for playing with, y'know? Anyone else feel this way?
