Chimpanzees freed after 30 years as Lab animals
07 Sep 2011 10:16:37

This has nothing to do with myself, Japanese culture, or anything related to this site however this site is the only blogging tool I use and I was really compelled to talk about this news.

This is the moment a group of chimpanzees sees daylight for the first time in 30 years - after being locked in cages for medical testing.
The animals hugged each other in delight before they took their first steps outside.

Emotional footage, below, shows how they reacted to their new surroundings.

The outing marked the end of a 14-year bid to re-integrate the 38 primates after they spent most of their lives cooped up inside.

This is just some very sad news that I saw today before I went to school in the morning. Not sad in the fact that they were freed but the fact that they had never seen sunlight for 30 years was something that really plucked my heart strings. Animal rights and cruelty will always be a hotly publicised topic and I understand the scientific argument however I will not lie, I cried when I saw this video and this left me very unhappy. To not have seen daylight in all their life is absolutely unacceptable.

There is no denying the human emotion they showed when they were freed was of happiness. I hope these chimpanzees receive the safe and happy life they deserve. God bless.
