Di Gi Charat, Piyoko, Clear Figure

Di Gi Charat, Piyoko, Clear Figure
10 Aug 2012 21:41:41

So, feeling nostalgic, I thought, why not talk about my first PVC?
Here she is:

Her name is Piyoko (ピョコラ=アナローグIII世) from Di Gi Charat (デ・ジ・キャラット).

STORY TIME:
I got her when I was 10 years old. A Local comic book store just got the trading box series and at the time I was with a friend of my dads who still a very good friend to me. This was also my first trip to this Local comic book store, and now it's a store I frequent.
Since it was my first trip, my friend told me I could pick something out so long as it wasn't expensive.
At the time, I was still very new to anime, but entering the wee-boo fandom. Not long before this trip, a local library visited my school to talk about books. She had a book with an anime character on it (I think it was anglic layer but I dont remember well) and told us about Graphic Novels.
My little child heart seen love at first sight because as soon as I went home I begged my mom to buy a Graphic Novel.
We went to the book store and I picked up a book called: Di Gi Charat Theater becuase of the cat girl on the cover.

This manga was my first manga, graphic novel and even comic book I actually officially owned myself. I've read it so many times that today it's pages are soft.
Looking back on it though, it was a very simple and even cliche' manga series. The jokes are corny and crazy, but for my 10 year old mind finally learning to read- it was amazing and funny.
But it's not a series I'd recommend to anyone. LOL.

Back to the figure:
Because I had the Di Gi Charat manga, when I saw the familiar main character on the box I immediately wanted it.

When I opened the box, low and behold, I obtained the clear version of Piyoko.
To be honest, when I first opened the box, I was disappointed because;
1.) She wasn't colorful and
2.) it was Piyoko and I didn't know who she was. (She wasn't in the first Volume.)
But before I could find reason to complain about it, my friend remarked how amazing she looked and that she'd never seen a clear toy before.
Some how that stuck because I held on to Piyoko for a very long time.
So long that she's turned yellow!
(At the time I didn't know how to take care of my figures.)

So on an official level what can I say about it?:
Well, She's the all Clear version of the Piyoko figure from a Di Gi Charat blind box trading series.
2002, Manufactured by Broccoli(ブロッコリー).
The box gave you the chance to get one of 9 different figures.
4 Colored,
5 Clear/Translucent.
Here's the colored version next to the clear-

It was 500Yen when it was released in Japan, and 6.99 in the US where I bought it.
85MM or 3.32"

Now on to the personal review:
Well, I can't say much about it since mine is so old it's turned yellow.
I guess that can be a lesson to people about translucent PVCs changing color in sunlight...
(but really you shouldn't keep them in the sun anyway.)
-I think when I was 10 I kept mine on the windowsill.-

I can say she's smooth and soft like most translucent pvcs.
Her entire body is one piece except her head, but she holds together very well, even after all this time.
She has an adorable pose and I like how her stethoscope is bouncy looking.

That's All! Thanks for looking!
