In another world, a fight to the death between the Calamity Crusher and a peerless necromancer known as the Corpse God results in the latter's reincarnation—not into the corpse of a fallen kinsman, as intended, but into the corpse of a teenager freshly murdered in modern-day Shinjuku.

All the Corpse God desires is a peaceful life, but peace is hard to come by as long as there are those at large who still want his host dead. It is harder still when Shinjuku's denizens begin taking a personal interest in the Corpse God himself, including the likes of the police, troublemakers, and other eclectic individuals. But the Corpse God is a creature too ancient and patient to be so easily deterred, and he will willingly take on new foes in order to protect new friends and the peace they promise.

With an entity concomitantly boring a hole between Earth and the Other World, however, life on both sides of the sky promises to be anything but peaceful...
