And the seventh and final picture in my Smoked Cheese Photoshoot is a group picture. My cheep little Tsuruya-san trading figure makes her first appearance here. Couldn't think of a good pose to put her in by herself with the smoked cheese....

Yes, she is a very fun character, but I'm mostly just a big fan of the Haruhi series in general (my all time favorite series in fact). I also have 4 figures each of Haruhi and Mikuru and have 5 figures of Nagato. I have each character's basic school uniform Figma, plus two of Kyon and two of Tsuruya so I could have Taniguchi and Kimidori on display with the rest. ^_^

You should show us a group photo of your Haruhi collection one day!
Btw, how do you find the second season with that tiresome (imho) Endless Eight? :)

I definitely plan on uploading the full group picture of my Figma Haruhi set. But I don't know if I'll do every single Haruhi figure together (23 figures). That will be really hard to organize. I'm going to eventually upload pictures of all of my figures, but right now I'm still trying to get all of my figures into the database. Only reason I went ahead and uploaded these is because I already had the high quality pictures on my computer.

As for "season 2" of Haruhi, if you use torrents you can get the batch from Mazui here:
http://mazuisubs.com/?p=43
If you use IRC, they also have a channel and their bot's packlist on the site. If you watch streaming video, I don't know were to get it because I don't stream. :P

I wanted to ask how do you like the 2nd season. In other words, what do you think about it... he-he-he.

Ah ya, thanks very much for developing our database! :)

I really liked the new Haruhi episodes. The reason I say "season 2" (in quotes) is because I don't really consider it to be the second season of Haruhi. KyoAni never said it was the second season. They only described it as "the 2009 renewal airing" with some new stuff. Anyway, as far as my opinion on Haruhi 2009, I enjoyed it a lot. Having 8 episodes of Endless Eight when it could have been just fine with three was kind of lame, but I also thought it was just hilarious! Just the reactions from everyone was priceless. I've been meaning to marathon all eight episodes again, but I haven't gotten around to it since I'm keeping up with all of the new shows this TV season in Japan. As for the less repetitive stuff in Haruhi 2009, Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody was nice, pretty much a perfect adaptation from the story in the novels. And The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya was just wonderful. It was one of my favorite books and the anime version came out great. I can't wait for the Disappearance/Vanishment movie to come out. It just makes me sad that we have to wait until February for it to come out in Japanese theaters and then we'll probably have to wait until months later for the DVD to come out to get fansubs out. I wish I could just take a trip to Japan and watch it in theaters. I know the story well enough that I could get by with my low-level Japanese language skills. But I guess in the end I'll just have to wait....

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. I do that some times. And you're welcome for the database inputs. This is a nice site and I'd like to see it grow and live on for a long time. ^_^

Haruhi mad fan detected! :D
Zannen desu ga, I can't name myself a huge lover of that series, so I'm probably not able to keep up the conversation. I can say that my fav character is Asahina-san :D She has those 'sweet' voice and 'frightened' face I do have. And watching Endless Eight - had it not been for Japanese - I would become bored easily. I found it to be a nice way to improve my language skills XD

Ah, I also remember myself skimming through Japanese Haruhi novels. I even found a light version for children. But finally I decided on Tora Dora instead.

Do you have a favorite Melancholia character?

Yep, I'm kind of obsessed. I've read all nine of the novels that have come out so far (English fan translations since I'm not fluent enough to read the Japanese books I bought). It's really driving me nuts that book ten hasn't come out yet. Especially since book nine ended with "to be continued...." >_<

My favorite characters in the series are (1) Kyon, (2) Nagato, and (3) Haruhi. I love Kyon's commentary and general attitude towards all of the other characters. After that it gets kind of hard to rank. Mikuru and Tsuruya would probably tie for fourth, then Koizumi, Asakura, Kyon's Sister and Taniguchi will be in somewhere after that. I really love the whole cast, and that's pretty much why it's my favorite series. The characters tend to be one of the biggest parts for me when enjoying a story.

I love the Toradora novels, too. Taiga is actually my number one favorite anime/manga/light novel/whatever character. I really need to get back to reading the fan translations. I've only read the first three books. Up through book 7 is translated now....

I just have to barge into this discussion^^ I really love this series (thought I read just one, first novel, lamely translated in Russian). I'm studying Japanese, so I'm waiting patiently for my skills to be enough to read original novels.
I think the best thing about Haruhi series is its balance. I'll try to explain. There are adventures, character's development and slight tint of romance, everything mixed perfectly, with nothing overflowing.
And characters are, in fact, stock characters (magassa, genki, tsundere, moe etc. etc.), but at the same time they are really unique (Nagato slang, ke-ke-ke^^).
And, same as you, I like Kyon. He is your ordinary Japanese schoolboy, but also - he is unique - unlike others, he is mature and reasonable individual.
And Nagato... yea, Nagato. She maybe is my favorite female anime character. That's my pattern, thought. I love silver-haired outworldly charas.
I'm too old for this shit, ain't I?

Yes, the balance is great in the series and Kyon is also very awesome for his maturity and sensible attitude despite all of the crazy stuff going on around him. Oh, and don't forget the yandere and little sister characters! It made me laugh so hard when they started the final episode of the Haruhi-chan anime like a dating sim game intro. Just pure genius! XD

I share your quest for Japanese fluency. Luckily Haruhi was popular enough for the nine books out so far to get rather good English fan translations pretty quickly, but there are so many other light novel series that aren't so lucky: Bakemonogatari, Index, Nogizaka Haruka, etc. It'd also be nice to re-read Haruhi in the original language.

About second season.
At first it was really hilarious to watch everybody freaking out about Endless Eight. But then it, in fact, started to piss me off a little... On sites like Sankaku Complex every post regarding Haruhi has "lame marketing strategy of KyoAni", "Haruhi franchise is massacred by KyoAni", "Otakus who buy EE DVDs are retarded" shit (sorry for my french^^).
What is it - a general opinion, that everybody must share? Hey, I know several people, who praise EE and find it really innovatory... Personally I think it was really funny, and that suspense was great! KyoAni took a great risk with it but it was worth it.
Really, I don't like how opinions are manipulated by media.
Sorry for bitching and rather strong language^^

Haha, don't worry. I understand the feeling. Personally I'm glad it pissed people off. If something so minor as the repetition of Endless Eight could completely ruin Haruhi for someone, they probably don't really deserve to be a fan in the first place and don't understand what KyoAni was doing. As I said already, this was never meant as a real second season. I think most people were pissed because they were under the false impression that it was the second season and were looking forward to Disappearance starting. Just remember, the internet is a world were anyone can bitch for the sake of bitching and do it as loud and obnoxiously as possible. You just need to keep that in mind and filter as much as you can so it doesn't piss you off too much. That's just what the bastards want. And don't worry about the strong language. I usually talk much worse. I've just been keeping it in check because I don't know what the "bad language" policy is on this site and I don't want to unintentionally offend anyone. :)

Very nice! I should really get some of those stages for mine. The stands they come with kind of suck.
I actually try to limit myself to one figure per character. I've broken that rule a lot with the Haruhi series so I at least want to only have one Figma per character for them. XD

yes, di:stage is a good idea, thought it's a kind of marketing stunt from MF to get money from figma lovers. The best thing about it is that they are very very customizable. But I just can't get around to actually customize my di:stages.

I've bought Taiga's light novel because I wanted a book which would be breathtaking and useful at the same time.

Kyon... isn't he a constant grumbler? :)

Haha, no worries. I'd never spoil Toradora for someone unless they wanted me to. It's my number three ranked favorite series (I have a habit of doing rankings a lot). It is a very lovely story. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yes, Kyon does grumble a lot, but I love him for it. How he grumbles is just so exquisite! He also gets his moments of greatness every now and then (although he may continue to grumble all the while). XD
