Black Rock Shooter's real name is Kuroi Mato. She likes playing the guitar.

Little is known about Black Rock Shooter, other than she is much like a black clad Miku Hatsune and is most distinguishable by the massive projectile weapon she wields (known as ★ Rock Canon), and a blue flame that erupts from her left eye. She is also seen using a sword known as Black Blade.

She is best friends with Takanashi Yomi, who later becomes her enemy, Dead Master.
