Tonio was an Imperial gunner's mate aboard the warship commanded by Rear Admiral Siegfried Kircheis during the Castrop Rebellion.

Tonio had previously served aboard Reinhard von Lohengramm's flagship, the Brünhild, notably participating in the Fourth Battle of Tiamat and the Battle of Astarte.
