After the failed experiment of taking pictures yesterday, I thought I'd try using some of the other settings. I've never tried most of them because the only hint to what they are is strange illustrations for example whats the difference between the "lady in sun hat" and the "child with baseball cap"? But looking a these pictures i'ts pretty obvious that these other settings are much better.

Lets compare a picture from yesterday...

With a picture from today...

I don't think I should ever use the manual setting ever again.

Now I just have to figure out what setting works best for me.

Manual settings is piece of crap. I mean, how can a camera know what am I filming and under what conditions?

The "photos from today" are very fine! The best thing is sharpness. For me, in figure photos sharpness is the main (and only) right criteria. Any troubles with lightness and color are simply taken care of with a little PS-work (noob-level).

But if photo is not sharp, I can't fix it (maybe it's possible for advanced users of PS, I don't know).

Tell me again - I don't quite get it - the better photo is made in auto-mode?

I'm too old for this shit, ain't I?

The thing about the pictures from yesterday was they were sharp but way too dark, brightening ruined them.

As fro the setting it wasn't fully automatic as that is a deferent setting. It was one of the settings that has a illustration like you can see in this pic... (I don't know it they have specific names or not.)

The settings you are currently using now are excellent. Although I do not know what exact setting you're using, the ISO is at a interesting number. What I'm curious about is that your previous old settings used a lower ISO, but it produced some noise/grainy spots. Nonetheless, experimenting with various camera settings is always fun.

I think the problem with the older shots might have been lack of enough light, but I shall continue to experiment.
