I have the Nikon D3100. I see you already have a Nikon so you're familiar with them.
The D3100 is good for both pros and newcomers, and has many settings to assist you with shooting :)
I have two lenses, the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR (came with the camera)and Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR .
The 18-55mm is a good all around normal lens, while the 55-300mm is zoom lens which draws closer things that are far away (it also gives very good background blur/bokeh).
