This is something I've been wondering about this for a while now, but I've been noticing more and more how badly painted my Chopper is.

My first thought was of course that he's a bootleg (which is possible, as I heard from his previous owner that he was bought from Japan, but over eBay). But then I've also been thinking, maybe he's just of very bad quality. Maybe you guys can help me decide, since there are very few references to compare to on the internet?!

First let's take a look at the box. It's not in good shape, so it might be hard to analyze it.

I know nothing about this character, but judging by those photos, it's definitely a bootleg. Miku looks like a bootleg too, BTW.

Oh well, then it must've been the flash that gave that weird glossiness to her face; I just compared it to the one I have and the face looks more matte. On the other hand, everything else looks pretty much the same, so I must be wrong there. Sorry to have frightened you)

You should really take a look at MFC - it's a great place for English-speaking collectors with huge database and lots of pictures.

Box hasn't sticker, "MH-china", strange skin color, bad painting... Looks like bootleg. But Chopper is cute anyway :3

It's a bootleg, 100%, BUT not bad.

Not a flat painting, BUT it can be seen only with a small distance. Nothing to worry about.Kawaii. If you want, you can give it to repainting, and he shall be like the original, even better

Yes, first of all, box doesn't have a sticker with mascot of Toie Animation Studio, paiting is bad so i must think that is bootleg, but it's still Chopper so he need your love*_*

You're not the only one dealing with bootlegs here.

First, at Anime USA, I picked up a Snow Miku 2011 Nendoroid figure, only to discover a couple of days later that the figure is actually a bootleg (this explains why I haven't done an Anime USA report yet, as that is my only figure purchase at the con).

That's not the only bootleg problem that I have, as I've starting to have a feeling that the Konata Nendoroid figure that I picked up at Katsucon a few months ago is a bootleg as well.

That sucks! :(
You can try and compare your Kona-chan with pictures that others post on the internet. GSC also posts bootlegs they find and help you compare.
