Figma Delays

Figma Delays
16 Jul 2010 17:29:00

'Sup, Shelfers. Just figured I'd share an interesting tidbit I saw on Max Factory's site:

http://www.figma.jp/info/info.html

Basically, a bunch of Figmas that were supposed to be out in July got delayed to August. The affected Figmas include:

-Black*Rock Shooter
-Ritsu Tainaka (July rerelease)
-Teana Lanster
-Yuu Kawamura

The Figmas that are already coming out in August, such as Azusa Nakano and Sakuya Izayoi, are unaffected and are still coming out in August as planned.

Black*Rock Shooter is confirmed for an August 25th release, and there have been hints that she'll include a free DVD of the OVA. There's no definite date for the other delayed Figmas, though, so they could come out early in the month like Saber Alter did.

Speaking of whom, I wonder if the reason for all these delays is due to all the QC problems as of late? Rider's hair kept falling apart, and there have been a bunch of reports of cracked shoulders on Saber Alter. Maybe they're delaying these Figmas to fix any potential problems?

I know most of you will probably be disappointed by this news, but it made me rather happy - now I can add a Revoltech Woody to my Black*Rock Shooter order. C'mon, just look at that smug face.

The DVD bit hasn't been 100% confirmed yet. However, they have confirmed that they plan to distribute at least 50,000 to 100,000 DVDs of the OVA for free, as well as streaming it for free online. They've decided that rather than worrying about piracy, they're gonna get people interested in the characters by giving them the OVA for free, then wait for the merchandise profits to come rolling in. So far, it's confirmed that Hobby Japan and Newtype magazines are gonna include the DVD.

Is the nendoroid still coming out this month?

GSC hasn't commented on the Nendoroid yet. However, since it's on the same run as the Figma, I think it's pretty safe to assume that the Nendo will get delayed, too.

Yuu wasn't part of the delay, just BRS and Teana. I am still mad about it, my shipping is going to be brutal in August. Five figmas and a figuarts bike (Hardboilder). :(

It could be worse. Have you heard about the shipping issues with the Revoltech Blade Liger? The box is about twice the size it should be; as a result, SAL alone for it costs upwards of 4500 yen.

LOL I heard about that, I'm really glad I didn't order it, it's cute and all but not worth the cost imo.

My guess is that it'll probably go on clearance in six months or so. There's also the fact that the competition between the big sellers (HS, Amiami, HLJ) has led to a lot of shipping sales, which would be a good opportunity to grab it. Alternatively, you could wait for it to show up at a brick-and-mortar store or a con.

It's very interesting news and very joyful for me. I've got a lot of spendings in july and in the beginning of the august, that's why if BRS figma (and probably nendo) will be released in the middle of the august I can get her^^
Sorry for my egoistic thoughts =(

No problem. I'm pretty happy about this, too (as mentioned in the post). BTW, she comes out on the 25th of August.

GSC and MF are well-known for their delays.

And figma's quality is f'king fluctuating >_< When I've got Casual Saber and Shiro I was going to give up on figma at all - because of the overall quality.

But after that, when I've got my K-On figmas they appeared to be absolutely OK.

And for me it's a good news about BRS. There is still a chance for me to get her^_^

I now remember how the PVC B*RS was delayed, what, six times?

It's funny, because my Shirou is completely fine. However, my friend's Casual Saber is atrocious - the alternate faces barely fit on her head. Likewise, my Reimu is fine, but my Marisa has really brittle ABS (the solid, clear plastic commonly used for stands).

There have been rumors going around that Max Factory is in the middle of changing factories, which would explain both the delays and the problems with Rider/Saber Alter - they were probably rushed in order to get them on shelves before the factory switch. Either way, I hope they fix the issues in time for October - I have three Figmas lined up for that month (Mari, King Kazma, and Luka), and they'll probably be my last if they keep up these issues.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy about the delay - I wouldn't have been able to get her if it was this month, because I've already made a bunch of purchases for this month (a bunch of Bakemonogatari Petit Nendos, Revoltech Dix-Neuf and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift).

Wow, thanks for the info about factories, knew nothing about that.
My Alter Saber is on her way to me, so I will know soon if there is some issues with her.

I missed Rider and now hoping for re-release. Then again, I like Rider, but I don't overall approve of long-haired figmas - long hair usually limit the posability.

If your Saber Alter's shoulders are stuck, don't force them. They'll probably crack if you do. You need to heat them under a hairdryer while gently wiggling them to de-stick them.

As for Rider, they did a pretty good job of preventing her hair from getting in the way, but that's precisely where the QC problems kick in. Her bangs are made of a different, much more flexible plastic, but they fall out all the time. The back half of her hair is on two little joints of its own, but the hair-pieces fall off of the joints pretty much right out of the box. They don't break, just fall off (so they can be glued back to the joint as if nothing ever happened without hindering poseability), but this is still the kind of thing that the manufacturer should have under control.

You're welcome. You can also use the same trick for Figma stands that don't fit.
