Oh, she may look sweet, but let me warn you, she's thinking about doing unspeakable things to giant robots. From the inside out.
Mari Makinami has proven surprisingly well-received, given the circumstances. Introducing a new character with a relatively large role to a classic series like Eva seems like a recipe for disaster, but her eccentric nature, admittedly awesome fight scene (ZA BEASTO), and not-too-Mary-Sueish-ness have endeared her to a surprisingly large number of people. Max Factory has therefore decided to give Mari a PVC treatment of their own, and it's the largest yet - 1/6 scale. This makes her about twice the size of the average posable figure. Those interested in adding Miss Makinami to their collection can look forward to a March release.
"Ha! My knife can penetrate the gaps in your armor, so +2 to my Initiative!"
The Big #100 for the Yamaguchi Revoltech series was generally viewed as somewhat underwhelming. While it's still a pretty disappointing character choice, this new EVA-01 is admittedly looking like the nicest rendition of the mecha Kaiyodo's produced - and it's the start of a new "Evangelion Evolution" sub-line. This time around, rather than rushing the designs to get the figures out in time for the movie releases, the design team are making what their dream Revoltech EVAs would be like.
So many hands, yet still not enough to hold all those limes.
The accessories are certainly a dream come true - most notable is the Sachiel base. The Angel's core lights up, similar to Danboard's eyes, and there's also its severed arm. Unit 01 herself comes with two heads, blood-spray effect parts, a pallet rifle, a progressive knife, and fourteen(!) hands. And this remains the same price as the other Yamaguchi EVAs! Anyway, Unit 01 is due for a January release.
So, is anyone endeared by Mari? Maybe their opinions have changed (or stayed the same) about Revoltech Yamaguchi #100? Sound off below!
