Figure News: Revoltech Getter Ark, others up for preorder
18 Oct 2010 21:04:27

Again, sorry for the delay - I've still been doing battle with sickness, and wasn't able to write up an article yesterday. To make up for it, I'll provide a double rainbow article again. What does it mean?

...Regardless, Kaiyodo recently opened up preorders for three new Revoltech releases, two for November and one for December. The December release is none other than...

Revoltech Getter Ark

Oh no! He's ripping Revoltech Alien apart!

The big Revoltech Yamaguchi #100 is going to be unveiled soon - probably at the Revoltech Expo next week, in fact (speaking of which, they recently confirmed that it's not Gunbuster or a Gundam, that it's "more articulated than usual," and that it may be from the Braves franchise (but not GaoGaiGar himself). In the meantime, though, there's #99, the Getter Ark! The Ark, in addition to looking ominous with its spiny sun-ring, includes a number of accessories. In addition to the usual head/hands assortment, there's two Getter Tomahawks, as well as a pair of brutal ripped-circuit effect parts that will be perfect for recreating Mortal Kombat with your Getters. Moving on, there's also two completely out-of-the-blue releases...

Revoltech Raoh (Hokuto Musou ver.)

"You DARE challenge my silly helmet!?"

Kaiyodo is continuing their Hokuto Musou subline of Fist of the North Star Revoltechs with the main villain, Raoh! It's nice to see that the line isn't dead, honestly. Seeing it get put on the backburner (along with Queen's Blade) in favor of a failed reboot of the already-mediocre Fraulein line was rather disappointing to say the least. Anyway, Raoh is abandoning the effect parts so common to this subline in favor of a huge, posable cape and helmet. Come to think of it, with Hokuto Musou getting a US release soon, I could see them bringing this subline over to the US to promote the game - not as a mass-market type of thing, but kind of like how they have older Yamaguchi Revoltechs at many US comic shops. Moving on... what's this?

Revoltech Jack Skellington (Santa ver.)

"What's this, what's this, there's white things in the air..."

It seems that Revoltech Jack Skellington sold well, as Kaiyodo's releasing a new Revoltech of him - dressed as Sandy Claws himself! Of course, this figure will also double as an accessory pack for the first one - all their parts are fully compatible, giving the previous Jack three new hands and three new faces to choose from - a curious-looking smile, a "feels good man" face, and one that could either be despaired or singing. One particularly cool bonus would be the faithful ghost-dog Zero, who also comes with an adapter that allows him to fit on the first Jack's base. Here's a picture with all the accessories:

Both Jack and Raoh ship in November. Anyone else excited for any of these three? Jack has me really tempted, especially because of Zero and the new faces - the four included with the original are plenty, but Jack's such an expressive character...

It was unpleasant, but I'm on the uphill end now. Thanks for your concern. :)

Glad to hear that. Caught a chill? How's the weather at your place? About +5 °C here in Moscow :P

It's just a common virus. Nothing you can really do other than wait it out. As for the weather, it's considerably warmer over here right now (about 13°C in Boston), but the Massachusetts winter is on its way...

Interestingly I think Raoh looks better in this more detailed style. Do you know if he is supposed to be bigger than the others?

Yeah. According to Amiami, he's about 15mm taller than Rei and Kenshiro, and looks quite a bit bulkier (hence the lack of effect parts).
