I am in despair! A figure I want is on a site I can't read. ;_;
Perhaps I should explain an easier way.
I'm a fan of Ryukishi07's works. I haven't gone back to read through the first 2 "When They Cry" series, but I'm about halfway through the third. I've watched trough all of the Higurashi anime adaptation and what's subbed so far of Umineko. (Crap adaptations, I know, but I somehow enjoy them anyways)
I've been aware of Ōkami Kakushi for a while now, but only recently has it surfaced on some of the forums I frequent. I expect great things from it, I'm sure it's something I will enjoy. I'm in love with that box art. That's why when I found this, I was a bit excited: http://www.konamistyle.jp/sp/okamikakushi/figure.html#info01
But that price - eek! @_@ It is a little steep. But I somehow feel it is the sort of thing I'd regret not getting. What's worse, is that according to the guys on the forums, if they don't get 1000 pre-orders the figure will be canceled. What a frightening concept! ;_; (Very good marketing on their part, though)
It seems I'd have to use a proxy buyer too. I'm not sure how much he'll charge though. It's good that I found his site though, great for future reference! But thinking of adding proxy charges on top of the already steep price. *sigh* I'm just not sure I can do it...
I guess what I'll do for now is email the proxy and see what his price would be. Then I'll see what the boyfriend thinks of this ordeal (he likes the figure, I'm not sure if he really paid attention to what I said about the price though). GAH! I'm so conflicted. ><
In other news, he put in the order for my Vocaloid Nendos today. After I convinced him that it really was ok, they wouldn't take the money until the figures were in. XD I probably should have made him register it to my email address though, I don't think he checks his often enough for me to be comfortable with. :/ Oh well.

Actually myself I've never dealt with proxy buyers, but usagi_joou did. I remember she spoke well about a particular one. Mb, she can consult you if it worries you.
And congratulations with an order :)

It was quite refreshing finding a figure with well-made fabric clothes. I get a small case of giggles thinking of the fabric moving when the air-vents kick on or something, like she's come to life! It's also revived my desire for a ball-jointed doll, and the compulsion to sew heaps and heaps of tiny clothing for them both. But BJD's will have to wait, the boyfriend isn't as willing to help me with them. They're more expensive and they creep him out. :P
I think what I'm going to do is leave the final fate of the figure in the hands of the proxies and boyfriend. I had a friend who's dealt with a few give me a list of contacts, and I've emailed them all for quotes. If they turn out to be too much and the boyfriend says no, then that's that. If that clears, the final hurdle will be the 1000 preorders. If she ever makes it to my doorstep, we'll know it was fate.
And yes, Black Rock Shooter is on my list too. <3 So many figures, so little room. I think my figures will be very relieved the day I move out, haha.

If you don't mind me asking, do you and your boyfriend have a job?

He works at Wal-mart pushing the carts. Not the most glorious of jobs, but it's mindless manual labor with little social interaction, so he does well with it. He's a pretty diligent worker, and is close to being moved up to manager.

Came to tell you about my experience with proxis, maybe you'll find it somehow useful.
Once upon a time^^ I came across a RAH Ginko Mushishi figure
http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/61262
It was fate no doubt. I fell in love with this silver haired gentleman at once. And he was nowhere to be found except AmiAmi and Yahoo auctions Japan. On AmiAmi he was some 2000 yen cheaper than on Yahoo. So I started googling for proxy to get it from Ami.
First of all there were tenso.com. There you are supposed to buy figures or anything yourself. You just give tenso's address to the shop. Shop ships goods to tenso, tenso ships it to you. Japanese required. Fail.
Back to googling. I wanted someone to buy Ginko for me. There are plenty of services like that. But some of them require long and tiresome registration, and some even want you to add funds to their system BEFORE you make any request. To put it short I found just one proxy that suited me:
http://i-tm4u.biz/shopping/
There you just fill the request form, send it and then they'll write you back and charge you. You can also ask any questions about stock status of you goods or anything that you can't understand about your order. No registration or cash in advance. Moreover! They take 15% for service - the best deal I could find.
Their site is a little strange and their English is far from perfect. But they are fast and simple to use. Just one little thing - ask for EMS shipping. My order (Ginko and Nendo school sets which I bought because AmiAmi had 50% discount for them) came to me in a big bag, not box. If my goods were shipped by SAL they could've been damaged.
That's it.
Good luck with your figure^^

Thank you for your response, it was really helpful. About 15% was as good as I could find too. Between that and shipping fees, paypal fees, etc. it gets really staggering. @_@ I'll bookmark that one website though, I think I like that better than the guy I found.
A bag? Wow, that's scary. I'm glad they were ok.
