Romantic solitude

Romantic solitude
11 Jan 2010 22:00:54

In every second or third romantic anime city does have a bridge. A specific one. It looks cozy, although solitary. And a hero, usually a teenager-boy who does have problems of some kind, often comes there to meditate upon his life...

Bridge can look like this.

Or mb like this.

Personally I immediately start to remember Shakugan no Shana bridge. Sakai Yuji seemed to like it a lot.
Sorry for crappy pictures.

It's a pity I still don't have an appropriate Shana figurine. The first season was lovely. And the second was above average.

Very nice pictures. ^_^
Shana was actually the second series I thought of while reading the first part of your entry. Toradora was the first. (surprised?) I just love the part with the bridge near the end of the series. :) Bridges are also pretty prominent in Index/Railgun as well, although it's not usually in a very romantic fashion. Though I do consider the first Touma vs. Misaka fight on the bridge in Index to be romantic in a way.

Anyway, hopefully there will be more good Shana figures to come. The series currently has an OVA being released and the third (and final?) TV season is supposed to be coming after that so they still have an excuse to put merchandise out.

It would be great to have a kind of epic figurine in dynamic pose with sword and battle-red hair. But it seems that Miku-Miku and Saber are much more popular in manufacturers opinion... Also I do expect the third season to be pretty middling after what was done to Louise :(

Awww, don't be pessimistic of Shana. The production teams for Zero no Tsukaima and Shakugan no Shana don't really have that much in common with each other. J.C. Staff is the overseeing production house for both shows, but the inner workings of the two teams are very different with different directors, animation studios, etc. contributing to the shows. Plus the overall focus of the two stories are also different as Zero focuses more on comedy and fan service while Shana focuses more on drama and epic action. I also feel that Shana has done a very good job in being consistent with its delivery over the two seasons it's had so far. I personally feel that the entire series has been equally as great throughout all of its TV and OVA episodes and that anyone's preference over how much they liked different parts of the series is based purely on the story material that was being depicted, not on the quality of its delivery. Zero on the other hand has had some changes in its delivery between its three seasons in my opinion. Personally I actually liked the third season more than the first season while the second season is my favorite so far. But season three was really saved for me by my love of Tabitha. And I just loved the ending of the second season. As far as the actually delivery goes, the quality of Zero no Tsukaima has been going down progressively with each season. But I really don't think that has been the case with Shana and I don't expect that to happen. At least that's my hope. And I hope you're not disappointed by the new Shana and hope you get the figure you've been wishing for.

Anyway, I don't know if that made much since. Sorry for babbling. ^_^"

Yeah.. The end of the second season of Zero No Tsukaima was truly EPIC! But the third season was trash (IMHO) T_T

I like Shana more than Zero and I think the third season should be good.
BTW, will the third season also be the final or not? Can't imagine how they gonna end it because all evil characters were still alive after the first two seasons. *_*

Yeah, apparently according to the producer the third season is supposed to be the last one. I'm not sure what they're going to do either. I mean a lot of things can happen in 24 episodes if they actually focus on progressing a story so I'm not really worried about things getting resolved with the main villains. I'm mainly worried because (as far as I know) the original novel series is still being released. Maybe the author is planning to end it soon? But if not anime is kind of known to have endings without very good closure, or endings that are original to the anime, not based on the work it's made from. Personally I hope the next book will be the last one so they can adapt the entire series into the anime. There's already 22 books in the series so I think it's gone on long enough anyway. Plus it kind of makes me sad when an anime makes up an ending or leaves you hanging. :(

Thank you for babbling ~^_^~
Hmmm... That sounds soothing. Yeah, you are probably right about the delivery and plot things. But the date when it's going to be aired is still unknown, isn't it?

Yeah, they haven't set a date for Shana III yet and as it looks right now, it will probably be a bit of a wait. The Shana S OVA is going to be 4 episodes long. The first episode came out last October and episode two is coming out in February, so it's being spread out pretty far. I've heard that the fourth episode is going to be released in August so the earliest we can probably expect Shana III is October. The other two TV seasons started in October (2005 & 2006) so it would make sense. Hopefully they don't make us wait longer than that. :)

Nice article, Japan really seems to love it's environment, just about every series seems to love showing off Japan's architecture and small cozy neighborhoods.

Shame you're not a big Figma fan, there's two Shana figmas available, red hair and dark haired versions. Red hair is readily available and the dark hair one you can get from Mandarake.

True, I have no figmas and only 1 nendo. I intend to order several more nendos (their faces are too cute; being a girl I can't resist :D), but no plans for figmas yet. Not that I can't stand them. It's just I don't have enough money to afford every single figurine I like... and there are so many completed models I want to purchase!
