Okayama Jitensha Tour

Okayama Jitensha Tour
05 Jan 2010 17:46:51

Today I remembered my intention to upload photos of Japan - those I made during my summer educational course in Okayama.

I've already showed you Okayama station, my apartment and the greatest place of local sight-seeing - Kōraku-en garden. Let's continue with Okayama itself.

Okayama is the capital city of Okayama Prefecture in the Chuugoku region of Japan. It has an estimated population of 700,000. Ah, maybe it's not very interesting to otaku-guys. Huh, well, the city does have several anime shops. There is even a subdivision of well-known Animate - 2 floors with manga, dvd, figurines and hentai sections. But I bought almost nothing there, cos I was saving money and space in my bags (which was much more important!) for Akihabara.

My school was located in the heart of the city, and it took about 40 minutes on foot from my apartment. Fortunately we were given free jitensha (bicycles). My room-mate used to cycle back in Moscow and jumped with joy, but I had never gone for a ride for about... 15 years! Zomg! Being confused (or better to say - shocked) I took the handle bar... In fact I learned how to deal with it on the second day. Good girl! :)

Ah ya, here is a photo-review of "my apartment - my school" tour. Enjoy!

Very interesting pictures. So about the last picture, the sign "Japanese Language Teacher Training Courses," are you looking into teaching as a profession?

It's been years since I've been on a bike, too. Not quite as long as you, though. Maybe 10 years at the most. =P

Ah no, I didn't attend teachers courses - the school offered normal courses (for students, not teachers) as well. Though many folks say I would become a good teacher (at least speaking Russian :)), I'll probably not. Time will show :)
