Accompanied my younger sister on her shopping-tour today (she was looking for different girlish stuff)... and returned with new Army of Two: The 40th Day PS3 game.

IGN review
Video-games are not popular among girls in Russia. A perfect moment to grin while shop-assistants are staring at you intending to buy a game and it's not Sims.
I heard the game was kinda panned by the critics. As though the plot is far-fetched and the action takes place in the same town the whole game, which is boring. Maybe it's true, I don't know yet, but I was a huge fan of the first game... so if the second uses the same mechanics, it will be enough.
Gonna play Elliot Salem, the short guy who is kinda tsundere. Hot-tempered and sexy, I mean :D Hope Vallefor will join me as Rios. No fun to play such a game alone.

I doubt one can really enjoy splitscreen... it's ridiculously odd.
> Can't say that I admire FPS as a genre
It's impossible to admire FPS on consoles, because FPS aren't meant for them.

And when you play on the Internet you cant talk with your partner (of course one can use telephone, Skype or in game voice-chat, but there is a difference... you won't feel your partner, if you understand what I'm talking about).
My first PS3 FPS game was 'Resistance'. And when I began to play, I thought just like you, that there is no way to play FPS without mouse. But after a few hours I got used to sticks.
Of course you can't use the same tactics that you do with a mouse, but without it... huh, you can lie in front of your plasma and relax :)
BTW, I always play games (regardless of the genre) at the highest level of difficulty. Bahh, sometimes watching my 100th retry Glory laughs at me xD
Hate IE >_<

I guess I feel like it, that console gaming is somewhat less hardcore than PC :) No offense :)

Also, FPC on console and on PC are kinda different. As Vall has already mentioned, you have to use different tactics. On PC they often require you to move (for example, to run) and fire at the same time. Otherwise, things would be pretty easy. On PS3 FPS has more of a positional game. You run, find a place to hide, shoot, again run... Surrounded by stunning graphics it has its own charm.

These "other tactics" are a mere lack of choice - without mouse you just don't have choice other that this given tactic, while mouse doesn't really stop you from using it - and it's used in PC games also. Speaking about graphics, modern PCs are much more stunning in graphics than consoles. So it's just sort of a dumbed-down gameplay with dumbed-down graphics...

Btw, it's not necessary to upgrade every half a year to beat PS3, it's just necessary to beat it once :) And I guess with a simple Core2Duo and modern nVidia card it's a no-problem.
I think video gaming is alive because people who have no life get tired of sitting before their PCs 24/7, and like sometimes to get up to play their console. Having several gaming platforms gives them an illusion of having a little life. Which is obviously false.
