I had this epiphany a while ago, but I've discovered an effective method to making it work. I just sell off older figures that don't get posed/photographed as much these days, and the hobby pretty much funds itself. I guess I'm pretty lucky, though, in that I ended up losing interest in a lot of high-demand figures (Figma Drossel, Revoltech Vash, Nendoroid vanilla-Miku, etc.), and each of those were able to easily fund two or three figures.

I've also discovered the merits of repairing broken figures. After discovering this miraculous German boat-glue that can glue even really tiny, rubbery bits without difficulty, I've been able to get bargains like a $25-shipped Figma Kamen Rider Incisor that had a broken antenna, and I was able to trade a Revoltech Layton and get an SHF Nasca Dopant in return. It also gives these figures a new home and a second chance, so to speak.

If you're into the vidya, I have another tip for saving money, although this may or may not gel with your own ethics on the matter. I recently bought a DS flashcart, so what I've taken to doing is buying DS games, completing them, then trading them in for other games and downloading the ROMs onto the flashcart. Everyone's happy - the original developers still get their money, I get to build my collection, and the games keep funding themselves.

So... they're supposedly new characters, but they're just recolors of existing ones? It's like I'm really on Deviantart!
